Guitar Lesson Tuition So what do I teach? My program can be broken down into Songs, Theory, and Technique. And, not necessarily in that order. My teaching method comes from my first book entitled Functional Guitar where songs, music theory, and technique are combined in a personalized program for each student. I'm almost finished with my third instructional book entitled Guitar Antics which I hope to finish in 2012. Teaching is best left to those who love it and do it for the right reasons as taking lessons from the guitar player down the street dooms you from the start. Becoming a good guitar player requires consistent lesson attendance and preparation by the teacher. Both of those are impossible if your lessons are canceled due to a gig or unplanned show. I've found many guaranteed result approaches to the guitar, including exercises and theory applications and examples. Balancing the music theory with the requested songs or styles of music by the student is my specialty. I have one of the few kids guitar programs in the state where students age 5-10 can learn fun guitar songs, rhythm studies and games, and be exposed to a variety of other instruments. Lessons are taught once a week, and last 30 minutes. Kids attention spans are around 17 minutes, so having a longer lesson is a waste of time. Students will have anywhere from 4 to 5 lessons per month, depending on the number of weeks. You will have homework which may include the memorization of scales, chords, arpeggios, and musical notation. You will need a 2" 3-ring binder for your music and handouts; there are no hand written lessons. All music is computer generated and laser printed. I am very organized and take teaching serious while offering great guitar lesson value. I hope you are serious about becoming a proficient guitar player and call me soon! At age 45, I realized there were some fun things in life I really wanted to accomplish but hadn't done anything about yet. Learning to play the guitar well had finally reached the top of my list, and I wanted to make absolutely sure I did it right. In my mind, partnering with an excellent guitar instructor was essential to my success and to making any meaningful progress. I really feel like I got it right when I began taking guitar lessons from Eric Peterson. Eric is an immensely capable instructor. He is as skilled in the art of teaching guitar as he is with playing the instrument, which I think is a very important and also a very uncommon combination. Eric is very personable and very professional in his approach to teaching. He consistently delivers well developed lessons which make learning and practicing the guitar fun, interesting, and challenging for me. I look forward to my lesson every week. My only regret is that I didnít start sooner with Eric, but Iím not looking back! ~ Randy I started taking lessons from Eric three months ago. He is a great teacher! He allows you to play the songs you want and explains things really well. He jams a lot with me and makes lessons fun. ~ Griffin, age 8 ìEric is a very exciting guitar teacher. His methods of teaching are fast and he knows my favorite kinds of music as well as the ability to give me other kinds. Eric makes learning the guitar fun. My son looks forward to his lesson every week. ~Linda, mom I like that Eric assigns me sons that I have to pass off each week. I like how he teaches and that he makes me work. ~ Zach, age 8 My son absolutely loves taking guitar lessons from Eric. I believe heís especially good with kids and is very patient with beginners. ~ Tina, mom Eric is great! He incorporates music theory into each lesson and gives real life explanations of how to use things. His personality makes me feel at ease when I make mistakes and I would recommend him to anyone! ~T aylor, 30 Ericís teaching is the best, he is way cool!
